- In MXF the video framerate is represented with the metadata element sample rate which specifies the number of addressable elements of essence data per second.
- Definition
- Used in Checks, the system shall read out the Video Frame Rate indicated in the wrapper metadata and check if it matches the expected Frame Rate specified in the input. Optionally the system may report the read out Video Frame Rate.

In MXF, this metadata element is called "sample rate" and it is a required metadata element. If the partition status signals open, the search shall be continued until a closed partition is found. If no closed partition is found, the value of the last open partition shall be used.
